The Amphitheater
The amphitheater on a sunny day.
Leaves reminiscent of the winter days before crinkle along stone steps clad by chipper students. Years of history and architecture below their feet, yet a commonplace event for the students of the University of Virginia. What a privilege to meander through the marble, the stone carved out of hillsides.
Witnesses to history preparing the creation of their own.
A lunch break in the amphitheater, so commonplace yet so striking.
The gratitude forgotten in the cold is remembered with the sun’s warming breath. I sit here listening to chatter floating on the breeze.
Joy is coming back to virginia.
The cooped up emotions of gelatinous winter months finally bubble their way to the surface. Camaraderie no longer exhausting but easy as breathing. The air is crisp and the mood is light.
Virginia is coming back to life.
The sun’s power is so indescribable. Gentle immersive radiation sneaks upon your tired cells. A balance between light and dark, the skin takes its beating in the sun held too long.
Tiny wisps of air sweep away its intensity with ease and lingering moments become longer. A weightless blanket of energy occasionally diverted by sloth clouds.
